History

Rio
Marine Inc. was founded in1929 by Leo P. Glynn when he moved
to Houston from New Orleans, Louisiana. The Company's original name
was Glynn Electric Co. The Company has continuously served the marine
industry with electrical repairs on commercial vessels including
rewinding motors, searchlights, wiring, generators, lighting and
machine shop work. The different types of marine vessels included
towboats, barges, ferries, harbor tugs, supply boats, ships,

off- shore tugs. In 1952, the Company moved to its present location
at 7647 Harrisburg Blvd. near the Houston Ship Channel.
In
1954, Mr. Leo Glynn's son, Phil Glynn joined the company after graduating
from the University of Houston with an Electrical Engineering Degree.
He became President in 1970 when Mr. Leo Glynn retired.

The company
was sold to Ronald C. Dansby on August 31, 2002. Mr. Dansby
worked in the marine industry since 1962 in various positions and
last held the position of President of Coastal Towing Company for
two years. Prior
to that, he was President of Kirby Corporation's Inland Marine Division
for 10 years. Mr. Dansby holds a BBA in Management from the
University of Houston in 1968.
On
June 16, 2003, Glynn Electric purchased the assets of Boiler Alarm Marine Maintenance
Co. This enabled the company's operations to expand into barge alarm repairs and
generator work. This expansion was in keeping with the company's new business strategy of offering
a broader base of repair services to the marine industry.
Glynn Electric Co. Inc. changed its corporate name to Rio Marine,
Inc. on September 25, 2003, reflecting the company's expanded operations.
On
January 15, 2006 the company opened its will third office in Houma,
Louisiana to serve the Houma, Morgan City and south Louisiana
areas.
On
September 1, 2006, Rio reopened in Bridge City, Texas
after Hurricane Rita destroyed the Port Arthur office to serve the
Orange, Beaumont, Port Arthur and Lake Charles areas.
February
26, 2007, Rio entered the Southeast market starting the Theodore,
Alabama office to provide service for Pascagoula, Mississippi,
Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida.
