Welcome to RIO Marine, Inc.

Rio Marine Inc. was founded in1929 by leo P. Glynn when he moved to Houston from New Orleans, Louisiana. The Company's original name was Glynn Electric Co. The Company has continuously served the marine industry with electrical repairs on commercial vessels including rewinding motors, searchlights, wiring, generators, lighting and machine shop work. The different types of marine vessels included towboats, barges, ferries, harbor tugs, supply boats, ships, and off- shore tugs. In 1952, the Company moved to its present location at 7647 Harrisburg Blvd. near the Houston Ship Channel.

In 1954, Mr. Leo Glynn? son, Phil Glynn joined the company after graduating from the University of Houston with an Electrical Engineering Degree. He became President in 1970 when Mr. Leo Glynn retired. The company was sold to Ronald C. Dansby on August 31, 2002. Mr. Dansby worked in the marine industry since 1962 in various positions and last held the position of President of Coastal Towing Company. Prior to that, he was President of Kirby Corporation? Inland Marine Division for 10 years. Mr. Dansby holds a BBA degree from the University of Houston.

On June 16, 2003, Glynn Electric purchased Boiler Alarm Marine Maintenance Co. from Paul C. Baumert, its President who then joined the Firm as Senior Vice President and General Manager. This acquisition expanded the company? operations into marine heater, alarm repairs and barge maintenance work. This acquisition was in keeping with the company? new business strategy of offering a broad base of repair services to the marine industry. Glynn Electric Co. Inc. changed its corporate name to Rio Marine, Inc. on September 25, 2003, to reflect its expanded operations.

Rio continues to add experienced technicians to our team in order to improve our capabilities and flexibility. Rio currently has 19 technicians working the Texas Gulf Coast. Despite this growth, Rio? goal is to stay within our ?ircle of competence. However, much effort is expended by the company on widening our ?ircle?by upgrading the skills of Rio? current work force and employing people with additional expertise. To illustrate, eight technicians recently attended a Newage- sponsored school for generator training. Six technicians received additional training in searchlight repairs. Three employees are pursuing university-level electrical technology degrees at night. Two technicians are scheduled to receive factory heater training.

To bolster barge heater marketing, Randy Ivey joined the company in the position of Sales Manager for the Heater Group. Randy has a degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and has held various sales and operations positions with General Tire Company. Terry Dyke will continue in his position as Service Manager for the Heater Group. Paul Baumert, VP, has left the company to pursue other interests and to spend more time with his family in Louisiana. The heater group moved into a 28,000 sq. ft. building on 76th and Ave B about a block from our main office. Previously announced was Rio being named a sales and service representative by Vapor International for their improved line of heaters. Vapor? simplified redesign is more fuel efficient and costs less than competing heater brands.

Rio would like an opportunity to work out an agreement on selling and servicing your electrical products.
